Little Wymering
From bungalow to house, Little Wymering and its owners now enjoy new towering heights and even bigger expansive views across Hardees Bay and Horseshoe Bay towards the North Devon Coast. Working with the client and 1010 Architects, ASR Projects completed the construction of a large new first floor turning the bungalow into a large 4-bedroom house. We agree with our client – it was worth it, even just for the stunning uninterrupted views from their forever home.
New heights, bigger view
The brief was to build up to maximise the current footprint of the bungalow, the beautiful grounds in which it stands and the magnificent sea views it could command. Two main challenges ASR Projects faced were logistical – The stormy coastal weather, even with a tented build together with the client needing to continue to live in the bungalow whilst the work was carried out. We did what we do naturally – we accommodated, we hand-held and we made it work.
ASR Projects were responsible for all aspects of work from Quantity Surveying to Project managing, procurement to quality control, all demolition aspects to raising the roof, restorative works to existing bungalow to blending finishes with the new build, interior and exterior finishes, M&E to bespoke carpentry.
Jenny & Nick Pearce | Property Owners | Ogmore-By-SeaFrom start to finish the project ran very smoothly. Communication was great via their dedicated project manager Fi, and all the workmen were a pleasure to have around. The standard of workmanship was of a very high quality and we are delighted with the finished result.
The detail – borrowed and blended
Our clients were keen to allocate their budget where it really mattered and made the big difference they were looking for. They were happy for the new build parts to blend with the old. It was our job to ensure the finishes were literally ‘seamless’. From old render blending into new render, new windows in the style of old windows, from old roof to no roof to striking standing seam roof – borrowed and blended details that make Little Wymering look like it’s always been a 2-storey house.
